Meanwhile, demand for breast reconstruction has rocketed by 260% and breast reduction by 212%. Figures from comparison website WhatClinic show cosmetic treatments were more popular than ever
in 2015. A tummy tuck was the fastest growing procedure of 2015, with a 351% increase in inquiries in the UK – despite an average price of £5,500. But breast implants, with an average price
of £3,800, were the most popular procedure for the second year in a row. Arm-lift surgery, to remove “bingo wings” increased by 252%. Among non-surgical treatments, demand for “vampire
facials” – which involve having blood platelet-rich fillers injected into the cheeks – increased by 150%. Inquiries for tattoo removal have increased by 73% since 2014, with people paying
£63 on average per treatment. Many tattoos need up to five sessions for successful removal. Emily Ross, director of WhatClinic. com, said: “The cosmetic surgery and medical aesthetic
industries in the UK saw a massive increase in inquiries for procedures in the UK. “Demand is high, but in some cases so is the risk. That’s why it’s so important for patients to have
realistic expectations and to not be swayed by offers or deals.”
