The poor cat was left to die on the street after the dog owner is seen casually strolling away from the body her pet had torn into. The beloved cat, a ginger moggie named Augusta, was found
dead in the morning by her owner Abigal Collins. Ms Collins, who first thought Augusta had been run over by a car, was appalled and disgusted by the footage of the incident. She is now
releasing the CCTV footage to shame the dog owner's behaviour, which took place just metres from her front door, in Tatsfield, Surrey around 5pm on Monday last week. The poor elderly
cat was helpless when faced with the dog's sudden and violent attack. The greyhound dog is shown grabbing the 20-year-old cat in its teeth and pinning it to the ground before shaking it
violently to death. The dog's owner pulls the animal off the cat but then walks away and leaves twitching cat to die on the ground. Ms Collins, a bereavement practitioner, and her two
children are "distraught" at the cat's tragic end. Her children had grown up with the pet and were "heartbroken" to hear the news. Ms Collins said: "We looked
and we saw to our absolute horror a woman walking a brindle-coloured greyhound type dog. "The dog shook and shook my frail cat and the woman just hurried off with the dog, leaving
Augusta twitching on the ground. "Dogs can do dreadful things and I could get on with it if she knocked on my door. "But she just knocked it out of the dog's face and looked
around and stormed off while it was still twitching. "How could you do that?' "Firstly we cannot bear what the little cat had gone through, but secondly, how could any decent
human being just walk on and leave her there dying?" Augusta was a firm favourite with villagers, particularly children, who liked to stroke her when they passed the house. Surrey
Police have since opened up an investigation into the matter and are looking for a woman with a blonde or a grey pony tail.
