It is understood at least 12 passengers have been injured on a flight from Qatar to Ireland because of turbulence and they are currently being attended to by emergency services at Dublin
Airport. Qatar Airways flight QR017 from Doha to Dublin "experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey" however, the plane landed safely this afternoon with six passengers
and six cabin crew injured. In a statement issued by Dublin Airport Authority (Daa) to Express.co.uk, Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager said: "Qatar Airways flight QR017 from
Doha landed safely as scheduled at Dublin Airport shortly before 13.00 on Sunday. "Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and
Rescue department, due to six passengers and six crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey. "The Dublin Airport
team continues to provide full assistance on the ground to passengers and airline staff." Dublin Airport Authority said that the aircraft was met by emergency services, including
Airport Police and the Fire and Rescue Department upon landing. In a statement provided to Express.co.uk, Qatar Airways said: "Qatar Airways can confirm that flight QR017 a Boeing
B787-9 from Doha to Dublin has landed safely. A small number of passengers and crew sustained minor injuries in flight and are now receiving medical attention. The matter is now subject to
an internal investigation. The safety and security of our passengers and crew are our top priority." It comes as earlier this week, in a separate incident, a British man died on a
Singapore Airlines flight, SQ321, after extreme turbulence on a journey from London Heathrow to Singapore. The 73-year-old British man, Geoff Kitchen, died from a suspected heart attack
onboard, while several others remain seriously injured. Mr Kitchen is believed to have suffered a heart attack when the plane was hit by the turbulence. Reports say he was on his way to
Singapore for a holiday with his wife who was also on board. The plane, bound for Singapore, had to make an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand and
the flight was carrying a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew. It is understood 48 people are still receiving treatment including seven Britons. Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong
apologised, offering his "deepest apologies to everyone affected" by the "sudden extreme turbulence". Singapore's government has promised a thorough investigation.
