NICOLA STURGEON IS A 'POLITICAL OPPORTUNIST' SAYS DAN WOOTTON GB News host Dan Wootton, 38, took aim at his TV rivals on the BBC during a conversation with Tory MP Andrew
Rosindell, 55, about the Romford MP's campaign for the UK's national broadcaster to play the national anthem at the end of each day. BBC One last played God Save The Queen to round
off a day on BBC 1 on October 3 in 1997. RELATED ARTICLES Speaking about the BBC, Mr Wootton even alleged the BBC "sneer" at patriotism. He said: "The sad thing about the
BBC, because they never used to be like this Andrew, but the sad thing about them is you know they sneer at patriotism. The New Zealand-born ex-Sun journalist went on to highlight how BBC
presenters "laughed" at the then Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick, 40, for having a flag in shot during his interview. "They're embarrassed about Britain now," he
added. During Mr Rosindell's interview with GB News, the Brexit-backing MP for Romford in London said: "The BBC is meant to be the British Broadcasting Corporation, Dan, and this
is the year of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. "I frankly am sick of all this woke stuff, I want this country to be proud of our heritage, our traditions, our monarchy, our flag.

people have a sense of pride and belief in our country once again. "And if the BBC can't put the national anthem back on for 30-seconds at the end of the day's programming
then they can't really call themselves the British Broadcasting Corporation anymore. "It's time to get this back on track and I think that this is the year to do it, for the
Queen's Jubilee." After Mr Wootton alleged his network rivals at the BBC "sneer" at patriotism, the Romford MP added: "But you know Dan it's quite shocking,
it's also dangerous because it's unpicking the unity that brings British people together. "Look we are all from different backgrounds, different religions, different ethnic
backgrounds, different political views, we have differences but the one thing that unites all of us, I hope, is the love of our country. "And so we need these national symbols to bring
us together and singing the national anthem and hearing the national anthem is something I hope all young people should appreciate." READ MORE: SPANISH PM ORDERS EU TO COPY UK AS

served as long as Her Majesty. "And the BBC should dump the wokeness, dump the PC nonsense, let's have our anthem back again on BBC One." Despite Mr Rosindell attempting to
appeal to younger people during his appearance on GB News, polling from YouGov suggests those under 24 are less proud to be British than some of their older compatriots. The same polling
company found those aged 18 to 24 were less enthusiastic about God Save The Queen as an anthem, with 34 percent expressing favourable feelings and 35 percent giving YouGov a more negative
review. Those who vote Conservative and backed Brexit are also disproportionately likely to like or love the UK's national anthem, with respective net approval of 64 and 53 percent. The

every night on Radio 4 after the late shipping forecast and we continue to play it at appropriate times on television, such as during the Queen's Christmas broadcast. "We no longer
play the national anthem on a daily basis on BBC One because it doesn't close down in the evening." Mr Wootton reacted to the statement by saying: "So, there you go.

to get the BBC to "reinstate this proud tradition". The Romford MP was the primary sponsor behind a motion tabled to the Commons in 2010 which sought to bring back the practice. Mr
Rosindell was joined by 18 other signatories, including nine Tory MPs, four DUP MPs, three Labour MPs, one from the Liberal Democrats and the then Independent Croydon Central MP Andrew
Pelling, 62. He issued further appeals in 2013 and 2016.
