7 men sentenced to life in prison after brutal murder of law student

window of the premises and a second killing Ms Hachem. In a statement read to the court her father, Ismail said: “They didn’t just kill Aya, they killed our family. The light in our lives

has gone out.” He was joined in the public gallery by her mother Samar and brother Ibrahim. On Tuesday the jury took less than four hours to find Mr Suleman, from Blackburn, guilty of murder

Lancashire Police) Mr Raja, of Stretford, Greater Manchester, and Mr Ennis, of Partington, Greater Manchester, were also convicted of murder and attempted murder. Four other accomplices were

also convicted of the two charges. This included Kashif Manzoor, 26, of Blackburn, Ayaz Hussain, 35, of Blackburn, Abubakr Satia, 32, of Blackburn, and his brother Uthman Satia, 29, also of

Blackburn. Mr Raja was sentenced to a minimum of 34 years, Mr Suleman for 34 years, Mr Hussain for 32 years, Abubakr Satia for 28 years, Uthman Satia, for 28 years, Mr Manzoor for 27 years,

eighth defendant, Judy Chapman, 26, of Great Harwood, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter. Ms Chapman, the girlfriend of Mr Satia, will be sentenced on October 1. Mr

Raja's barrister, Mr Glenser GC, told the court his client had written a letter apologising to Ms Hachem's family. He said the defendant said he would do "whatever it

takes" to help her family in the future. He added: "The grief I have caused is unimaginable and I take full responsibility for my actions and the role that I played.”
