The Dead Ringers sketch saw two actors take on the roles of Andrew Neil and Diane Abbott in an interview. The Andrew Neil impersonator began by asking the Labour MP for her thoughts on the

latest Tory leadership debate and who she thought had impressed her. To the laughter and surprise of the actor impersonating Andrew Neil, the performer playing Diane Abbott was impressed by

Jeremy Corbyn and his absence in the debate. Ms Abbott was subsequently mocked for her unwavering loyalty to the Labour party leader and support of his gardening hobby. The first

impersonator began by saying: “I’m Andrew Neil, the cake they left out in the rain. “Just moments ago the Tory leadership debate ended on BBC One with the big winners being ITV and Dave

which both, no doubt, enjoyed a huge spike in viewers. “Joining me now is a woman who cooks ravioli on a Tuesday, a chicken who thinks he is Ted Heath and Diane Abbott. “Diane who impressed

you the most on the stage tonight?” The performer playing the Labour MP replied: “Andrew, for me the most impressive performer in the debate was Jeremy. Andrew Neil impersonator replied:

“Really? Jeremy Hunt” The Diane Abbott imitator answered: “No, no, Jeremy Corbyn silly.” Mr Neil quickly responded in an exaggerated sigh said that the Labour leader was not part of the Tory

leadership debate. The Labour MP imitator snapped back: “Yes and that is what impressed me. “The way he commanded the stage by not being on it. “You spent the entire hour thinking where is

Jeremy, what is he doing now? “Is he planting runner beans whilst tenderly cradling freshly picked iceberg lettuce. “I’m sure I’m not the only one in thinking that.” The fake Andrew Neil

mockingly retorted that the Labour MP was not the only person thinking that. The BBC Tory leadership debate was widely lambasted for the disjointed format. Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt

remain the final two candidates with Mr Hunt goading the former foreign secretary into taking part in another debate.
