According to a study by Professor Matthew Goodwin the former Foreign Secretary will lose his seat if the Brexit Party takes 20 percent of the vote. Just 15 percent for the Brexit Party would

be enough to put Jeremy Corbyn in Downing Street according to the analysis. Mr Johnson is currently the bookies favourite to replace Theresa May as Prime Minister. Speaking to The Daily

Telegraph Professor Goodwin commented: “Put simply, the stronger Farage becomes the greater the prospect of Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn. “If the Brexit Party get anywhere near what UKIP

achieved in 2015 then it is game over for the Conservative Party. “Even if Nigel Farage and his new party get only 15 per cent of the national vote then this is likely to cost the Tories 67

seats. “This is largely because much of the Brexit Party’s vote is now flowing from disillusioned Tories.” READ MORE: EUROPEAN ELECTIONS EXIT POLLS: POLLS CLOSED - WHO WILL WIN ELECTIONS?

The study suggested the Tories will lose 67 seats if the Brexit Party takes 15 percent of the vote, and 81 seats if it secures 20 percent. In the most extreme scenario, if the Brexit Party

wins 30 percent, the Conservatives will shed 113 seats. These seats wouldn’t necessarily go to the Brexit Party, as previously Tory votes switching could allow Labour to seize seats.

Professor Goodwin argued the Conservatives need to implement the 2016 referendum result to avoid a Labour Government. READ MORE: EUROPEAN ELECTIONS - EXTRA POLICE DEPLOYED ON POLLING DAY

OVER VIOLENCE He asserted: “Everything now hinges on whether the Conservative Party can deliver a meaningful Brexit. “If they do, then they might be able to fend off this threat. “But if

they don’t then the party will almost certainly be plunged into opposition and Britain will be forced to say hello to the most economically radical and left wing government that the country

has ever seen.” The UK voted in European Parliament elections on Thursday, which the Brexit Party is expected to win. Results are due on Sunday, after votes have taken place in the other

European Union member states.
