Following BBC Worldwide signing a £2bn deal with London Resort Company Holdings, some of the corporation's famous programmes and iconic characters could form a central part of the Kent
theme park. Paramount Pictures entertainment on the Swanscombe Peninsula, near Dartford, will also feature Hollywood-inspired attractions, a 2000 seat theatre, 5000 hotel rooms and is due to
open in 2020. LCHR has also struck up a deal with Paramount Pictures to gain access to its archive of legendary films including Mission:Impossible, Star Trek, The Godfather and The Italian
job. It is hoped the resort will attract foreign tourists to UK as well as Brits who are big TV fans of shows including Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and David Attenborough's
natural history documentaries. The theme park, which will built on a 900-acre brownfield site next to Ebbsfleet International railway station, is expected to create up to 27,000 jobs.
Commenting on the lucrative deal, Stephen Davies, director of live events at BBC Worldwide, said: "We’re always looking for opportunities to extend fans’ enjoyment of their favourite
shows. "The idea behind this resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture.” Meanwhile, LRCH director David Testa, said: "We
are delighted to bring the world's leading public service broadcaster on board this project. "The BBC has played an instrumental role in shaping the British entertainment industry
for nearly a century, creating some of the most iconic and cherished characters on TV and radio." He added: "It seems only right therefore that its programmes will be present at
the new London Paramount Entertainment Resort, which will combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture." BBC worldwide, which is the commercial side of the
corporation, previously signed a deal with Merlin Entertainment that saw CCBeebies Land launch at Alton Towers earlier this year.
