Prince Andrew joined members of the Royal Family to pay respect to his mother Queen Elizabeth II at several events over the past week. But should Andrew be given a chance for a royal
comeback under King Charles III? Vote in our poll.
The Queen’s second son was forced to step back from public duties after his Newsnight interview revealing his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
He was subsequently stripped of his honourary military roles, HRH status and royal patronages.
Andrew has always denied the sexual civil assault claims brought against him by Virginia Giuffre, and his lawyers say his out-of-court financial settlement is not an admission of guilt.
Andrew has kept a low profile out of the public eye in recent months but maintained a close relationship with his mother.
The Queen supported Andrew in recent years, with one friend telling The Telegraph: “Andrew took great comfort in his mother’s support, particularly when he found himself engulfed in scandal
over his links with Jeffrey Epstein. He could count on her and relied heavily on her counsel.”

After meeting with the public at Balmoral alongside his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie on Saturday, September 10, royal commentator Camilla Tominey claimed "there is little hope
of a comeback".
She explained: “When his mother was alive there was more tolerance for the royal described by some as her 'favourite' son.”
Ms Tominey alleged that Andrew is unlikely to have a "future" in “King Charles III's slimmed-down monarchy”.
She said: “It is no secret that Andrew is not particularly close to his brother – and having helped to orchestrate his permanent exit from royal life along with the Prince of Wales, it’s
always been thought that the Duke has no future in King Charles III’s slimmed-down monarchy.”

She added: “But while he will join his siblings in playing a prominent role in the coming days, walking behind Queen Elizabeth’s coffin and taking part in the official vigil as she lays in
state – once it is all over, he will be expected to retreat back to a life lived well under the royal radar.”
Royal expert Harry Mount told i news that the “door has closed” for Andrew to return to public life.
He said: “In her last years, it’s said that the Queen was often leant on by Prince Andrew for some form of comeback – not least in his surprise appearance at Prince Philip’s memorial
service.
“With her sad death, that door has closed. King Charles III and the Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge are said to be dead set against any comeback for Andrew.

“He will be allowed, of course, to go to the funeral and all state occasions, but any public role is very unlikely.”
The Queen’s Corgi’s Muick and Sandy will be cared for by Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at the Royal Lodge on the Winsdor Estate.
