Prince Charles, 73, visited Cambridge University’s Homerton College and expressed his pride in the institution's attempts to promote diversity. The Prince of Wales, who enrolled at the
university’s Trinity College as a history undergraduate, also met with equality campaigner and principal of Homerton College Lord Woolley, 59.
Lord Wolley, who founded Operation Black Vote, made history last month as he became the first black man to lead a college at either Oxford or Cambridge.
The pair previously worked together with the Prince’s Trust.
During his appearance at Homerton College, the Duke of Cornwall said: "I could not be more pleased to hear about the excellent work being carried out to promote greater inclusion and
diversity.
"As Lord Woolley knows, this is a subject which has always been close to my heart, and which I have sought to take forward, and to support, as much as possible much of my life.

"For our society to meet successfully the huge challenges before us, we will need all our talents and all our contributions.
"That is not simply a good intention - it is the most profound good sense."
The Prince added: "I have said before that our diversity is our greatest strength, and I become ever more convinced of that truth as time goes by and as I see fresh examples of that
principle - as I do so clearly here today."

The issue of race and the Palace was brought into the public domain earlier this year when Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, alleged in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, 67, a
member of the Palace household, who they chose not to name, had "concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie's] skin might be when he was born".
The US TV host later added: "He [Harry] did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or
grandfather that were part of those conversations."Following the CBS interview, Prince William, 39, defended the Royal Family when a question was shouted out by a journalist asking: "Is the
Royal Family a racist family, sir?"
While on a visit to a school in east London, the Duke of Cambridge retorted: "We're very much not a racist family."
During Charles’ visit to Cambridge, he also spoke with traders at the city’s market and opened AstraZeneca’s new research facility.

AstraZeneca’s £1billion Discovery Centre will be used by more than 2,200 scientists.
Speaking about the facility, Charles said: "I must say it has been absolutely fascinating to see at least some of the work that takes place inside this centre and to think that - supported
by interactions across the city and beyond - it will ultimately enhance and save the lives of untold millions of people around the world in the years and decades to come.
