Zara Tindall recently opened up about how she wouldn’t want her daughters to get tattoos before admitting she “wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they did.” While the Queen’s granddaughter,
38, does not have a tattoo she did break royal protocol with a piece of body art as a youth. Zara’s mother Princess Anne chose to raise her children outside of the royal in keeping with her
down-to-earth attitude. Neither Zara nor her brother Peter have an official royal title and they faced less scrutiny than there cousins Prince William and Prince Harry growing up. While Zara
grew up away from the royal limelight one decision she made as a rebellious teenager flew in the face of royal tradition. READ MORE: Zara Tindall bombshell: Zara lets slip royal protocol
revelation As a Royal Family member Zara was still expected to adhere to royal protocol which included things as pernickety as not wearing black to state occasions. So when she decided to
get her tongue pierced as a teenager it’s no surprise she raised some eyebrows. While Buckingham Palace courtiers were no doubt ruffled this rebellion, Zara did not immediately remove the
tongue stud. The young royal’s bold piercing was snapped on several occasions around 2000. Zara is married to rugby player Mike Tindall and the couple have two daughters together. The duo
are praised for their down-to-earth attitude and are believed to be favourites of the Queen’s. However, it seems Zara has straightened out a bit since having kids. The former ‘royal wild
child’ recently told Saga magazine how she would not want her daughters to get tattoos. Zara said, first referring to her husband Mike: “He absolutely hasn’t got a tattoo. “I’d also rather
one of my daughters came home with a piercing than a tattoo because at least a stud can be removed.” Zara went on to acknowledge that her teenage tongue piercing would make it tough to take
a stand against her girls if they did decide to get inked. She added: “I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they did though.”
