Prince Charles, 69, has long been a champion of environmental matters, urging the British public to go green for the sake of future generations. Now, the future King has revealed he puts his

money where his mouth is when it comes to running his luxury Aston Martin. His Aston Martin Volante, which he has had since he was 21, is now run on white wine after he demanded its makers

find an alternative fuel to petrol. And that’s not all: he also insisted the Queen’s train run on cooking oil to save the environment from noxious fuel gasses. The Prince said: “They

discovered they could run it on surplus English white wine, but also I hadn’t realised that they had mixed whey into it too. “The engineers at Aston said, ‘Oh, it’ll ruin the whole thing’.

“I said, ‘Well I won’t drive it then’, so they got on with it and now they admit that it runs better and is more powerful on that fuel than it is on petrol. “And also, it smells delicious as

you’re driving along.” READ MORE: WHY PRINCE CHARLES WON’T ‘MEDDLE’ WHEN HE IS KING The Royal Train, owned by the Queen and used by members of the Royal Family occasionally, is also run on

a fuel alternative. Prince Charles said: “It took me a long time to battle to get them to run it on used cooking oil. “Which actually, in the end, worked quite well. “But I don’t know. They

say it clogs up the engine or something.” READ MORE: ROYAL PR MACHINE FACING CRISIS OVER ‘KING CHARLES’, SAY CRITICS Earlier this year, the Prince also took delivery of the Royal Family’s

first all-electric car, a Jaguar I-Pace which he jokingly proclaimed “silent but deadly” on his first public outing. Speaking in a documentary which will be released to mark Prince Charles’s

70th birthday, he said: "You must understand the vital importance of all these remarkable natural eco-systems. “We’re running out of time because the necessary action hasn’t been

taken, has it? That’s the problem. “And I cannot believe that people can simply pay no attention to science. “They accept it in every other aspect of modern existence, the evidence, but

apparently not with climate change.” The Duchess of Cornwall, giving an insight into her husband's determination to effect change, said: "He feels everything inside, that’s why he

gets things done. "He’s pretty impatient, he wants things done by yesterday as I think everybody who works for him will tell you. “But that’s how he gets things done, he’s driven by

this passion inside him to really help. "He would like to save the world."
