‘It does work!’ Mrs Hinch fans share 59p hack for removing water rings from wood furniture

Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, became famous after she shared her cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and TV. The cleaning enthusiast now

has over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Her followers and fans were so impressed with her tips, they have even created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and tidying

tips.

On one of the groups, a user asked fellow Mrs Hinch fans how to remove water ring marks from wooden furniture.

Facebook user Melissa Amy posted in a group: “Hi all can anyone help? I have put a drink on my nan’s wood side table.

“It was only orange and water in a glass and it has made this stain. What’s the best way to get rid of it please? Thanks.”

The most common response was to use mayonnaise on the wooden table where the ring mark is.

Sus McLaren wrote: “Try mayonnaise rubbed in. Leave for a while then buff up.

Tanya Johnson agreed. She said: “Mayonnaise. Put lots on and leave overnight.”

Adrienne Perry said: “The bloke from The Repair Shop will suggest mayonnaise. I saw him do it on there.”

Other suggestions from cleaning enthusiasts included using olive oil, walnuts and a damp tea towel and a hot iron.

Jodie Marie Saunders said: “Olive oil, I used this on some ring marks I had on my bedside units.”

Alison Dowling agreed. She said: “Mixture of olive oil and lemon juice. Rub gently with a cloth.”

Meanwhile, Jayne Painter said: “I did my table this week.

“Get a tea towel and your iron and just keep ironing it. Trust me, it works.”

Ann Middleton commented: “Rub with walnuts. The oil in them reacts and should remove [the ring].”
