Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert, claimed the Nationwide FlexDirect account is one of the best accounts for saving.

Nationwide customers can get a whopping five per cent on their money with the account.

Martin revealed the trick on This Morning in January this year.

The 44-year-old TV presenter told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Scofield he believes the Nationwide FlexDirect account could benefit thousands of Britons across the nation.

Martin Lewis revealed how to get 5 per cent interest on you savings with the Nationwide FlexDirect account

Writing on the Money Saving Expert website, Martin explained: "Switch to the Nationwide FlexDirect account and you'll get an interest rate of 5% AER on the first £2,500 of your cash.

"This rate is fixed for the first year you hold the account, which gives some security in a world of uncertain savings rates. Be aware that it drops to 1% from year two, so look around then

to see if it can be beaten."

Nationwide told Martin it has "no plans" to change the rates on this account.

The only condition on the account is that, to get the interest, you'll need to pay in £1,000+ per month.

Martin recently issued an urgent warning over scam Facebook ads claiming to have his endorsement.

The con uses Martin’s face to persuade customers to spend money with them.

Martin released a video to reveal the tricks these companies were using to trick companies.

He said: “I’m afraid to tell you there is a host of dodgy companies whether scam firms, misleading firms or name-alike firms that are trying to leech off the hard-earned reputation of me and

this website to sell you things with an implied recommendation, which is an absolute unmitigated lie.

“I never do Facebook adverts. If you see them they are not true.

“If I ever did allow my name to be given to something it would usually be a charity and I would always insist that there is a link back to an article on Money Saving Expert.com that

explained it.”

Martin also recently revealed one surefire way to save cash for your pension, and all it involves is a contract with your employer.

If you’re employed, your employer may top up your pension as part of your benefits package. If you opt out, Martin says you could be missing out.
