A woman was left stunned after discovering a long-lost sibling through a DNA test - a revelation that would ultimately "ruin" his life. Her daughter shared the incredible story,
explaining how her mother took the test to explore her family heritage, only to uncover an unexpected family connection that changed everything. Posting on Reddit, the daughter wrote:
"My mom took a DNA test and chose the option that connects you with relatives. She found out she had a half-brother who had been put up for adoption. He was the result of a fling her
father had with an ex-girlfriend." According to her, her mother learned that her father was "forced" to break up with his girlfriend, as her family, being deeply religious,
disapproved of teenage pregnancy. The girlfriend had no choice but to give up the baby, and none of her mother's family ever knew about the child - until now. "My grandfather
managed to keep this secret for over 60 years, which is pretty remarkable," she continued. Her mother eventually met her half-brother, and was taken aback by how much he resembled her
father. The two began spending a lot of time together, swapping childhood stories, and even tracked down his biological mother. But not everyone was happy with the reunion. The woman
explained: "His wife started feeling jealous about all the time he was spending with his 'new' sister. It’s crazy to think he lived just 20 minutes away from us our whole
lives, and none of us had any idea. We even had the same family doctor." Sadly, the half-brother’s marriage couldn’t withstand the strain. "After finding out about all this, his
wife became so jealous that they ended up getting divorced," she revealed. Despite the unfortunate fallout, she believes her uncle is better off. "He’s started dating someone new,
and honestly, I think he’s happier now," she wrote. Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts. One commented: "Doesn’t seem like a downside to me. Good riddance to her."
Another added, "Maybe reconnecting with his biological family gave him the courage to finally leave." A third reflected: "That was common back then. It was all about
appearances, and an out-of-wedlock baby was scandalous. It wasn’t really about religion, just how things looked. Nowadays, it's not as big of a deal."
