Aldi opening hours: What time is Aldi open on Bank Holiday Friday?

The 75th anniversary of VE Day - or Victory in Europe Day - is here meaning much of the UK will be enjoying a bank holiday. While the early May bank holiday is traditionally held on the

first Monday of the month, this year the Government changed the public holiday in anticipation of a national celebration of the historic moment. However, this was not to be.

Because of lockdown, national events have been cancelled and instead people will have to celebrate the event in the comfort of their own homes.

While it may not have been the celebration we expected, households are still trying to get into the spirit with garden parties and by decorating their homes in Union Jack bunting.

So if you're planning on toasting our heroes at 3pm on May 8, or hosting a garden party with your household, you'll likely need to pop to the shops to top up your fridge and kitchen

cupboard.

Aldi says: "While you’re planning the perfect bank holiday you’ll be happy to learn that your local Aldi will be open for all your long weekend essentials."

Aldi will be open from 8am to 8pm on Friday May 8 for the VE Day bank holiday.

Otherwise, Aldi opens from 8am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Key workers will skip to the front of entry queues by showing appropriate ID.

The supermarket said: "All day everyday key workers in the NHS, Police and Fire Service will take priority ahead of queues into our stores upon showing a valid ID. 

"From Tuesday 14th April, we have extended our priority shopping time for emergency workers which will now include all groups entitled to a Blue Light card. This includes all Social Care

Workers, First Responders and St John’s Ambulance staff, amongst many others.

"This is in addition to early access on a Sunday, where they can enter stores 30 minutes prior to opening."

Aldi opens half an hour early, from Monday to Saturday, for a dedicated browsing hour for elderly or vulnerable customers.

For those looking for a quiet time to shop, Aldi says its busiest time is first thing in the morning, while it is quietest between 7pm to 10pm.

The next bank holiday is just a few weeks away, with the pring bank holiday taking place on Monday, May 25.
