David James is an English retired football. During his career, he played as a goalkeeper, starting professionally at Watford in 1988 until 1922. Today, he was announced as the first


contestant to take on the glitter ball on Strictly Come Dancing 2019. The 48-year-old - who’ll turn 49 tomorrow - sat down with The One Show hosts Stacey Dooley and Matt Baker as they


revealed he’d be appearing on the BBC One Dance show. So how much is he worth, and what is he set to make on the show? According to website Celebrity Net Worth, David has a net worth of $15


million, which equates to just over £12 million. He has managed to amass such wealth from his successful football career. Following his career at Watford, he joined Liverpool in 1992 and


stayed there until 1999, playing in 214 matches. This was his longest stint with one team. From 1999, James was with Aston Villa, where he stayed until 2001. He then moved over to West Ham


United from 2001 to 2004. In 2004, the goalkeeper became a member of Manchester City, before going onto Portsmouth in 2006. In 2010, James joined Bristol City, staying there until 2012


before signing with Bournemouth. The footballer made his final career appearances for IBV Vestmannaeyjar. He’s said to have earned an estimated £20m from his footballing career, owning


several properties and having a lucrative contract modelling for Armani. Following his football career, James went on to coach. After a player-coach role at Icelandic side IBV earlier in the


year October 2013 saw James join Luton Town in a coaching capacity in order to gain experience towards a UEFA A-licence qualification Off pitch, he’s known for his charity work. In 2005,


James visited the south eastern African nation of Malawi to help raise AIDS awareness.He subsequently set up the David James Foundation in order to help maize farmers in Malawi develop more


efficient production techniques. James is an avid artist, and has auctioned several of his paintings for charity. In addition to being an art lover, he writes a regular column for The


Observer newspaper, and donates his article fee to charity. HOW MUCH WILL HE MAKE ON STRICTLY COME DANCING? According to The Sun, contestants are paid a standard £25,000 for signing up to


the show. This fee is said to jump up to £60,000 if contestants make it past the quarter-finals. And if they get all the way to the finals, the lucky winner is said to be paid £100,000 on


top. However, The Times revealed the exact amount the stars receive will be kept secret. Former Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley's net worth was recently revealed. The 2018


winner has had a very successful past year.
