Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, have not found out the sex of their child, but royal fans seem insistent the name the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will pick for their little one will

honour Harry’s late mother. Prince Harry lost his mum, Princess Diana, in 1997 when she died in a car accident in Paris. The Princess of Wales was an icon in her own right and her two sons

Prince William, 36, and Prince Harry have continued her legacy. As a result, royalists reckon Harry will name his firstborn after his late mother. Ladbrokes punters have soared the name to a

statistic of 10/1, making it first place ahead of Victoria, Alice, Grace and Albert. Victoria holds the likelihood of 8/1 while Alice sits at 12/1. Meanwhile, Grace is much lower down in

the ranks with 33/1. Albert is the only male name in the more popular options, with a chance of 10/1, Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Victoria may be favourite in the betting but

it's Diana who is running away with things in the popularity charts for Harry and Meghan's first born." Meghan and Harry could afford to veer from tradition with their baby’s

name, as their child won’t be as high up in the line to the throne as Kate Middleton, 36, and Prince William’s children are. While the royals often choose traditional names, one expert has

revealed Queen Elizabeth II may allow Meghan and Harry to opt for a more ‘unique’ name. Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen names already given to royals for their three children.

They have Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, who was born in April. But former Hollywood actress Meghan could be free to choose a name inspired by her own

upbringing. Carolyn Harris, author of Raising Royalty: 1,000 Years of Royal Parenting, told Vogue Australia: “The further down the line of succession, the more likely you are to have a more

unique or untraditional name. “We see, from the diversity of names among the Queen’s descendants, that the Queen does seem willing to allow the descendants to choose their own names.” While

Kate and William’s children are high up in ranks of royal lineage it is thought that there is an expectation for them to have a traditional name. However, those further down the line of

succession have more unusual names. This includes Princess Beatrice, eight in line, and Princess Eugenie, ninth. Princess Anne named her daughter Zara, 17th in line, and her son Peter, 14th

in line. Zara’s children are named Mia and Lena and Peter’s children are named Savannah and Isla.
