Drivers spending up to £4k in repairs by leaving five items inside of hot cars

Car experts have highlighted items with the highest risk of heat exposure dangers that drivers commonly leave in their vehicles. These items can cause stains, smoke, fire, and mould damage,

with up to £4,000 in combined repair costs. Auto insurance specialists at Uswitch reported on these items after learning 38 per cent of motorists limit interior car cleaning to once every

two months.  Smoke and fire damage could cost motorists the most, with damage repairs posing an average cost of £1,764 during a worst-case scenario. Warmer temperatures naturally generate

greater demand for cold drinks, but leaving a carbonated beverage can in your hot car can cause the container to explode and stain upholstery. Drivers can also find themselves battling

Mould repairs cost motorists an average of £1,250 in a worst-case scenario, according to Uswitch.  Uswitch Car Insurance expert Leoni Moninska said: “Car insurance only covers interior

damage brought on by unforeseen events, like getting into an accident or someone breaking into it. “For any damage you are responsible for, you will need to pay for any repairs out of your

own pocket.  “This includes the damage to your vehicle’s interior caused by items prone to damage from heat exposure.”
