Dvla shares which driving licence applications are being reviewed

The DVLA said they were currently still processing some driving licence renewals from 9 September in a blow to motorists. Elderly drivers asking for a renewal or those waiting for a new

licence after being disqualified also have one of the longest waits. The DVLA are now only looking at applications received from 10 September, almost two and a half months from when they

were sent off. Those applying for a driving licence with non-UK identity have also struggled with the DVLA now only looking at applications received from 24 September. First-time drivers

looking to get a provisional licence have also been left waiting with applications from 4 October now being looked at. The DVLA has said any drivers who sent in applications after these

of previous industrial action by members of the Public and Commercial Services union, there are ongoing delays with processing paper applications. “We’re sorry for any inconvenience this

may cause and our staff are working hard to reduce waiting times. “There may be additional delays in processing more complex cases, for example, if medical investigations are needed as part

of your driving licence application.” However, the list reveals not all DVLA services have been affected by delays. Drivers sending in for a vocational driving licence or renewal have also

waited less than a month to be looked at. The DVLA added: “If you have applied online, your application is already being processed. “There are no delays with online transactions, so please

try to use the online services where possible to avoid a delay with your application.”
