Universal Credit payment changes were voted on today as Labour pressured Rishi Suank and the wider Government to keep the £20 uplift in place. The results of this vote were released today
following a lengthy debate. "Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit "That this House believes that the Government should stop the planned cut in Universal Credit and Working Tax
Credit in April and give certainty today to the six million families for whom it is worth an extra £1,000 a year." Many expect this payment uplift to affect millions across the UK. In
December, it was revealed around 5.8 million people had claimed Universal Credit since the initial lockdown in March. This was a rise of around 94 percent, with demand growing particularly
high in South East England. Universal Credit payments themselves will be tailored to individual claimants circumstances, with additional amounts awarded for childcare or disability costs.
However, all claimants will receive a standard allowance as a minimum which ranges between £342.72 and £594.04 per month. When initially claimed, payments can take up to five weeks to come
through. Beyond this, single payments will be awarded once every four weeks into a bank, building society or credit union account. _CLARIFICATION_ _This article was originally headlined
Universal Credit payment uplift to remain as MPs vote for extension - full details. In fact the vote by the MPs was not binding on the government. The headline has therefore been amended to
better reflect that position._
