In a few days time Microsoft will lift the lid on some of the next-gen games heading to the Xbox Series X. On Thursday July 23 Microsoft will hold their highly anticipated Xbox Games

Showcase event. A pre-show stream begins at 4pm UK time which will have announcements followed by the main event at 5pm UK time.

One of the big announcements will be the reveal of Halo Infinite gameplay, while the bulk of reveals should be coming from devs at Xbox Game Studios.

We might at last get official confirmation of Fable 4, which is rumoured to be in the works at Playground Games.

While we will also hopefully find out more on Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 which fans last got a glimpse of when it was announced at The Game Awards in 2019.

And ahead of the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase we may have found out about one game that could appear during the stream.

It is believed that the Xbox Games Showcase could reveal some third-party games heading to the Xbox Series X in addition to first-party titles.

That's according to in-the-know journalist Jeff Grubb who in a post online said: "I’m expecting the Xbox Games Showcase to live up to that title. Microsoft is going to primarily focus on

games.

"But that doesn’t mean only first-party games, as it’s also bringing in third-party partners."

And ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase kicking off details on a rumoured new title have emerged.

It has been claimed that a brand new game in the Splinter Cell series is coming soon.

That's according to Luca Ward, who voiced Sam Fisher in four of the six mainline Splinter Cell games.

And Ward is convinced that the first Splinter Cell game since 2013's Blacklist could be arriving in 2021, according to a post by GamingBolt.

In an interview with Italian site Multiplayer.it, Ward said: "There is this return of Splinter Cell that is supposed to be a conclusive episode, but I’m not sure about this part.

"They have not yet figured out whether to do it in 2021. It was going to release in 2020, and then COVID-19 happened, and several big projects in 2020 got delayed. Others went on, like

Cyberpunk 2077 on which I have almost finished working."

Ward added: "But I am sure that Splinter Cell will return, this is a fact."

It remains to be seen whether Splinter Cell will get announced at the upcoming Xbox event, or whether it could be revealed in a future Ubisoft stream.

But we have seen Microsoft and Ubisoft working together in the run-up to the Xbox Series X launch to promote Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

So it wouldn't be a surprise to see them partner once again for another new game reveal.

And the announcement of a new Splinter Cell game is the kind of reveal that would go down an absolute treat and get plenty of headlines for Xbox.

Previously Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke about calls from fans for a new Splinter Cell game.

Back in April 2019 Guillemot said: "Last time we did a Splinter Cell, we had lots of pressure from all the fans saying, ‘Don’t change it; don’t do this; don’t do that.’ So some of the teams

were more anxious to work on the brand.

"Now there are some things and some people that are now looking at the brand; taking care of the brand. At one point you will see something but I can’t say more than that."
