Black Friday 2018 DEALS: PS4 and PS4 Pro price slash “coming soon”

Sony has been backed to reduce the price of their flagship gaming consoles again this year.

2017 saw a price reduction on the PS4 Slim and some analysts believe that the same will be done around Black Friday 2018.

However, the new deals may also include an official price slash from Sony on the PS4 Pro too.

It would make sense for the tech giant to want to ship as many consoles as possible before they switch to the PS5.

The next PlayStation console will reportedly be revealed by Sony in 2019, with a release date expected in early 2020.

So a well-timed price cut during Black Friday 2018 on the PS4 and PS4 Pro might not be such a bad idea.

Speaking to Gamingbolt, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter spoke on the subject of the recent price cut in Japan and how this might be used by Sony further.

“The PS4 [Pro Red Dead Redemption 2] bundle is sneaky,” Pachter commented.

“They cut the price of the hardware in Japan to the equivalent of $349 and didn’t do so in the U.S., keeping the hardware at $399.

“That means Red Dead is “free” in the bundle. I think we get a cut for PS4 (to $249) and Pro (to $349) around Black Friday, but the pricing now makes RDR look like it’s free.

“Regardless, not that many bundles sell before Black Friday, so it’s unclear if this deal will last very long.”

For those that don’t know, Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping events of the year in the United States.

Recent years have seen other major retailers in the UK follow suit, with the likes of Argos, Amazon and Tesco offering massive discounts on products.

The 2018 Black Friday event is scheduled for Friday, November 23, although many retailers will choose to have sales around that date.

Prices were traditionally slashed on electronic goods and technology, but nowadays you are just as likely to get a bargain on women’s accessories or homeware.

In the UK, the annual shopping bonanza continues to grow in size every year since being introduced in 2013.

A massive £1.4bn was made from online sales, up from 11.7 per cent in 2016, according to online retailer association IMRG.

And according to Forbes, the best way to get a good deal out of Black Friday is to have look at last year’s best deals.

PlayStation and Microsoft are also known for hosting their own digital Black Friday deals, so you can expect to see some price cuts on games in both online stores.
