Mary poppins returns trailer: first look at emily blunt (watch)

There’s only a very short glimpse at the British actress in the hugely anticipated role, but it’s sure to get excitement building in the run-up to its Christmas release date. A new teaser,

which released overnight in conjunction with the Oscars, sees Poppins drifting down from the sky, with her trademark umbrella. A Spoonful of Sugar can be heard in the background as she makes

her entrance amid cloudy, windy skies. Then, after the title shows, she can be seen in the mirror - showcasing her tight RP accent. Mary Poppins Returns isn’t out until the end of the year

but is likely to end 2018 as one of Disney’s top-grossing movies. Curiosity will be sky-high, if only for the incredible cast: Lin-Manuel Miranda plays Jack, an apprentice of the first

film’s Bert. Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke will also be appearing in minor roles. Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw play the grown versions of Jane and Michael Banks, the

children from the original. Julie Andrews, of course, played Poppins first time around, to huge acclaim. She allegedly declined to appear in the follow-up. Rob Marshall is directing the new
