Coming to america sequel in production with eddie murphy

It remains one of Murphy's most successful, popular and highly-regarded films. The film took an impressive $289million back in 1988 and a sequel has been rumoured for years. The

comedian even tweeted a teaser for it recently but then dramatically deleted the tweet before closing his entire Twitter account. A new report from Hollywood has confirmed that the film is

in production at Paramount Studios. It looks like we are going back to Zamunda. Hollywood website The Tracking Board broke the news earlier today. It said: "A sequel to Eddie Murphy’s

classic 1988 comedy Coming to America is confirmed to be in the works at Paramount, which has hired original writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield to pen a new Murphy vehicle."

The involvement of the original writers seems like good news until you remember that they also wrote both of Murphy's, less kindly received, The Nutty Professor movies. Murphy palyed

Prince Akeem Joffer in Coming To America, which also starred the man known as Darth Vader, aka James Earl Jones, as the King of Zamunda, complete with an impressive lion pelt draped across

his shoulders. Star Wars fans are currently focussed on all the revelations at Star Wars Celebration, including the new Last Jedi trailer. Jones' involvement in the comedy sequel would

give it a considerable amount of weight.
