It is always disappointing to lose an election, and this week is no different. But by-elections are not normal elections. Turnout is always lower, and even governments who go on to be
re-elected with stonking majorities have lost mid-term by-elections. Because they’re not a test of who should govern the country. Voters in Wellingborough and Kingswood weren’t faced with
the prospect of making Sir Keir Starmer Prime Minister. Recently, we’ve seen just what a damaging prospect that would be. Last week, Sir Keir tried to pull the wool over the public’s eyes.
He claimed his Party was junking their 28 billion pound a year green spending spree, but he’s kept every single one of his green policies. He can’t say how he’s going to pay for it, because
he hasn’t got a plan. But we all know it can only mean one thing: higher taxes on working people. Sir Keir has also relentlessly droned that he’s changed the Labour party. If this were true,
why would he tell us time and time again? Because it’s not. This week, we’ve seen the same old Labour. A party rife with antisemitism, and a leader who only drops candidates when pressure
from the public becomes too great. On Sunday, we found out that Azhar Ali, Starmer’s man in Rochdale, said Israel allowed the 7 October attacks by Hamas as a pretext to invade Gaza. Starmer
should have dropped him on the spot. Instead he spent two days defending Ali to the hilt. Sir Keir only suspended him after it transpired that he also parroted the antisemitic conspiracy
theory that Jews control the global media. Comments that show us that Labour remains the Party of Jeremy Corbyn, the man Starmer fought tooth and nail to put into No10. Meanwhile, our Prime
Minister Rishi Sunak, has been getting on with the job, taking the difficult decisions that will deliver a brighter future for you and your family. And our plan is working. Inflation has
fallen by over 7%, we’ve given business the single biggest tax cut in 50 years, and cut National Insurance for 27 million working people. We’ve cracked down on illegal immigration, delivered
the first ever NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, and put 20,000 new bobbies on the beat. This will be a hard-fought election, with lots at stake. And only one party can keep Starmer out of No10
and stop your taxes going up: the Conservatives. A vote for anyone else is a vote for Labour. So on election day, the public will have a clear choice: stick to the plan that’s working or
let Labour take us right back to square one.
