Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is back with The Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson at the realm to mark its 20th anniversary.

The 58-year-old admitted he was looking forward to hosting the show when it was announced he would be taking the job earlier this year.

He said “I have always loved the show and am thrilled to be involved with its rebirth.

"I’m a big fan of quiz shows and I’m looking forward to hosting this iconic TV show and hopefully making a few millionaires!”

Chris, 71, ruled out returning to front the show after he quit four years ago.

After being snubbed by TV producers, Chris’ agent said: “Chris thought the programme had run its course.

“He wasn’t approached but if he was, he would have politely turned it down. Chris is delighted it’s back and wishes it well.”

Chris started hosting the quiz show in 1998 and went on to present 16 series in total.

The presenter was known for his popular catchphrases such as “But we don’t want to give you that! and “Is that your final answer?”

When the show ended in 2014, Chris said: “It’s been a huge part of my life for 15 years and I’ve loved every minute of it, but it is time for me to move on from Who Wants To Be a

Millionaire?”

Chris also hosted many other quiz shows including It’s Not What You Know, The Colour of Money, Pop Quiz and Lose a Million.

Since the show finished, the star presented Chris Tarrant - Extreme Railways for Channel 4 where he travelled all over the world.

But back in 2014, the star suffered a health scare when he had a stroke at 39,000 feet.

Last year, the host explained he initially thought he had cramp while on a plane back to London from Bangkok.

Speaking to host Lorraine about the scare, he explained: “I thought I was going to die at 39,000 ft somewhere between Bangkok and London. I thought I had cramp.

“I’ve been very lucky. It was very scary. I ridiculously did not want to go and see a doctor on the plane - where do you land?

“But I got to this fantastic hospital and I got better, but so many don't. I had to do these bizarre exercises for months.”

This year, Chris was given a road ban after he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

The star was over the limit while behind the wheel of his Mercedes on December 16 in Bucklebury, close to his home in Berkshire.

He was slapped with a £6,000 fine and was banned for driving for 12 months.

Reading Magistrates' Court heard Chris’ breathalyser reading was 50 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath with the the legal limit being 35 microgrammes.

As he left the court, the TV favourite said: "I made a mistake and I paid for it. I shouldn't have driven. Full stop."

Chris said he was “very sorry”, adding: "I honestly didn't think I was over, but apparently I was, so fair enough."

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? starts tonight on ITV at 9.15pm.
