1993, Reeves lost his best friend, actor River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose. Reeves was only 23-years-old at the time of the death. But some five years later, it looked as if Reeves

life was changing for the better, as he met Jennifer Syme in 1998. The pair “fell instantly in love” according to the John Wick star. But only a year later, Reeves’ girlfriend gave birth

eight months into her pregnancy to Ava Archer Syme-Reeves, who was stillborn. The grief of losing a child understandably strained their relationship and the couple broke up a few weeks

later. And unfortunately for the Canadian actor, the tragic story didn’t end there. In 2001, a year and a half after his child’s death, Syme was killed in a car accident. She was on her way

back to a party at Marilyn Manson’s home in Los Angeles when she sideswiped three parked cars, rolled over several times, and was thrown from the car. American authorities said they believed

she died instantly. Reeves later said of the tragic events: “In 1998, I met Jennifer Syme. “We fell instantly in love and by 1999, Jennifer was pregnant with our daughter. “Sadly, after

eight months, our child was born stillborn. We were devastated by her death and it eventually ended our relationship. “18 months later, Jennifer died in a car accident. Since then I avoid

serious relationships and having kinds.”
