Strictly come dancing 2018: who is lauren steadman?

The Strictly Come Dancing launch show will be airing on BBC One tomorrow (Saturday, September 8) at 7.35pm. Each of the celebrities will be getting put together with the professional dance

partner.  The couples will then have a fortnight before the first live show.  The first week allow the stars to stay and the following show will see one sent home. Athlete Lauren’s name was

unveiled on tonight’s episode of The One Show by presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones. The 25-year-old joked she may have to pull out “dad dancing” as part of her Strictly moves but admitted

she had tried a bit of salsa before. She said: “My housemate is Columbian, so it sort of comes together with that and we went to a few classes, three, four, five years ago. “I needed a

hobby outside of sport, because being a sports person it’s just sports.” STRICTLY COME DANCING 2018 CONFIRMED LINE-UP Lauren, who was born without the lower part of her arm, added she did

not have any plans to wear a prosthetic on screen. “I don't think I will because I don't in most things,” she said. Tonight’s big reveal came after Lauren’s codename Caerphilly was

mentioned in order to give viewers a clue as to her Welsh identity. Lauren is set to star in the huge BBC One show this autumn along with a series of household names including Katie Piper, 

Faye Tozer, Danny John-Jules, Joe Sugg, Vick Hope, Graeme Swann, Dr Ranj Singh, Stacey Dooley, Ashley Roberts, Kate Silverton, Seann Walsh, Charles Venn, Lee Ryan and Susannah Constantine. 

STRICTLY COME DANCING 2018 PROFESSIONALS LINE-UP WHO IS LAUREN STEADMAN? Lauren is a British Paralympic athlete who specialises in Paratriathlons. The double World Champion and six-time

European champion was born on December 18, 1992 in Peterborough. Lauren began her professional life as a swimmer, having discovered a passion for the pool just aged four. She competed at her

first Paralympics game aged 15 in 2008 at Beijing, followed by an appearance at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. The young sportswoman switched sports after her uncle, a triathlete, suggested

she give Paratriathlons a try. Away from the track, Lauren says she has “a love for baking and salsa”. She has also proven herself academically by gaining first a degree in Psychology before

going on to achieve a Masters in Business. Lauren admitted she was “nervous” about the dancing challenge but was up for the dancing extravaganza. The self-confessed show fan said: ”I still

don't think it has properly sunk in that I'm actually going to be part of this year's Strictly! "I've had such a fondness for the show since I was young, and being

part of the line-up is something I thought would forever remain on my bucket list. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous to be up on stage, performing live and in front of

the judges but I'm up for the challenge and excited to swap my triathlon kit for dancing shoes and sequins!"
