Bargain hunter finally strikes gold after 10-year search and then sees the price

An avid bargain hunter has shared his joy at finding an item he'd been hunting for more than 10 years while rummaging through charity shop shelves and car boot sale stalls. Josh Wright

couldn't hide his thrill when he discovered the sought-after item for a mere fraction of its expected price. He walked into a branch of the St Elizabeth Hospice Retail Centre before he

stumbled upon the prized item he had spent years looking for – and his delight was all there to see in a TikTok video he posted on his account. Josh walked over to the board games and

puzzles section and pulled out an item from the 1980s, something he clearly was ecstatic by. He said: "No way! I've been looking for this game... £2. Escape From Atlantis – I have

to pick that up. "I've just found it – £2 for this game. What a find. It's from the 70s and it's coming home with me. I'm buzzing with that." After his £2

investment, Josh was eager to gloat about his successful thrifty pursuit: "I've literally been looking for this game for 10 years. A while back, I was so close to caving in and

buying it off eBay – it goes for around £50 to £60 there. But good thing I held back. Now, picking it up for just £2 in a charity shop – I'm still shocked I found it." Concluding

his video, Josh informed his viewers that his search continues for two more rare board games – Lost Valley Of Dinosaurs and Escape From Frankenstein, which remain on his "thrifting

bucket list". TikTok users revelled alongside him with comments pouring in; one user enthused: "I loved that game!" while another shared the sentiment, stating: "I had

that game, loved it." A third chimed in: "Major find in the Atlantis," while a fourth person confessed to having a coveted item on his list: "I have that Frankenstein

game. Great game." The sought-after board game Escape From Atlantis has seen multiple exchanges on eBay recently, with a couple of sales reaching just below £70 apiece. Contrary to

Josh's belief about the age of the game, the adventure was actually first published by Waddingtons in 1986, debunking his notion that it hailed from the 1970s. Furthermore, an earlier

incarnation known as Survive! Escape From Atlantis graced the American market in 1982, courtesy of Parker Brothers, the makers of Monopoly. Describing the gameplay, the website BoardGameGeek

stated: "An island made up of 37 hex-shaped plastic tiles is slowly sinking into the ocean (as the tiles are removed from the board). Each player controls 12 Atlantean Tribesmen that

they try and move towards the safety of the surrounding islands before the main island sinks. "Players can either swim, latch onto a dolphin, or use boats to travel but must avoid sea

monsters, octopuses, and sharks on their way to safety."
