Britain's oldest farming couple, Steve and Jean Green, have shared the secret to their 45-year marriage while filming the new series of The Yorkshire Vet spin-off, At Home With The

Greens. Their love story was so touching it even made vet Peter Wright blush. Steve, who is 96, had to endure a week alone when his wife Jean, 73, was hospitalised for surgery. When Peter

brought Jean back to their Stoneybrough Farm home in Thirsk, it wasn't long before the elderly pair were snuggled up together by the fire, thrilled to be back in each other's arms.

"They were like two smitten teenagers – they had never been separated until Jean's hospital admission. I thought I'd better leave, things seemed to be heating up," Peter

shared with a grin. He recounted: "They'd never spent a single night apart until then, which just epitomises their relationship. There's never a harsh word, but there's

plenty of laughter and joy along the journey. It might sound cheesy, but it's the truth." Since the show's inception in 2015, Steve and Jean have won over viewers'

hearts, while Peter has maintained a friendship with the couple for over half a century, reports OK!. Reminiscing, The Yorkshire Vet star added: "I got to know them well when I was

young. They became one of my regular clients when I started work in Thirsk in 1982. I had this banter with Mrs Green right from the word go, and we've always had a close relationship.

I've always loved going to their farm because of the banter we have." "I've always had a bit of banter with Mrs Green from the start, and we've always been

close." Peter detailed that Jean was more playful by nature but not to underestimate Steve. He added: "Stephen is more of a thinker, but once you get him talking he's quite

chatty." Peter admitted that filming with the married couple isn't always easy: "Steve might be easing into his nineties, but Jean is as lively as ever, always on the lookout

for the next adventure. "You're never quite sure what she's going to say next. Some of it can be a bit repetitive, some of it might not be suitable for television," he

said with a chuckle. "We have to accept them for who they are, and that their whole world revolves around their farm. You are limited to some extent what new things you can do with

them, but Jean always has some ideas," stated Peter In the new series Jean considers getting a tattoo, a stunt that leaves Peter gobsmacked, after Steve had warned his 40-year-old

daughter about coming home with a tattoo previously. "When Jean came home with the tattoo on her arm, his face was a picture, and you could see in his mind that the old cogs were

whirling away in there and he wasn't quite sure how to take it," recalled Peter. A passion of Jeans is keeping tabs on The Yorkshire Vet's ratings and savours the adoration

expressed in fan mail and parcels, some hailing from lands as distant as Australia. Gift can often include items such as oven gloves, coffee, biscuits, calendars, little kangaroo pouches,

random stuff, with Jean keen and eager to open. Peter finished by saying that the down-to-Earth Yorkshire is what captivates fans the most, especially the younger fans. He concluded:

"In the world they live in now, children have got their own mobile phones, they have computer games," he notes. "These two people are so detached from that type of life –
