A Top Gear producer has been slapped with a driving ban for six months after being clocked in his Porsche going just 4mph over the 20mph speed limit. Andy Wilman, 62, faced the mandatory
disqualification following his fourth speeding offence within a three-year span. On December 23, 2024, Wilman was nabbed exceeding the speed limit in his grey Porsche Macan on The Avenue by
Clapham Common in south London. The court handed down a half-year ban after getting 12 points on his licence. Despite largely steering clear of the limelight, his pivotal role in reviving
the iconic TV series Top Gear in 2002 is well recognised. Andy later carved out success with Amazon Prime Video’s The Grand Tour alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.
Behind-the-scenes genius Wilman, now entrenched in production for the popular Clarkson's Farm in the Cotswolds, had seen prior run-ins with traffic law enforcement, reports the Express.
Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court heard the record of his previous rule breaks that took place on January 5, 2022, September 5, 2023, and September 29, 2024. During the hearing about
the recent speeding offence, prosecutor Sarah Will told the court: "The very simple facts are that on December 23 at 9.08am a speed camera was triggered by a Porsche Macan on the A205
road, on The Avenue near Windmill Drive." Will emphasised the 20mph limit and noted: "This road was subject to a 20mph speed limit - the speed camera was triggered by the vehicle
doing 24mph." Wilman, from Wandsworth, pleaded guilty to the charges. Magistrate John Tomkins told him: "We have heard facts from the prosecutor - because you've pleaded
guilty to this offence a further three points has been added to your licence. As a starting point, the magistrates will have to disqualify you from driving for a minimum of six months."
Upon being questioned if he wished to present evidence of "exceptional hardship" to challenge his impending disqualification, Wilman declined: "No, I couldn't claim
that. I accept things as they are. 20mph is a tough one, but you must have heard that many times - but yes, it is as it is, I have nothing to query or challenge." He then confirmed his
post-tax annual income as £443,000 and was instructed to pay £1,042 in total, including a £666 fine, a £266 surcharge and £110 in prosecution costs. _GET ALL THE LATEST CELEBRITY AND TV NEWS
