Jane McDonald dropped by the ITV Lorraine set to share the latest gossip from the British Soap Awards and offered a succinct personal insight. The star-studded event is a highlight for soap
opera stars, with actors vying for the coveted trophies. Although the awards ceremony occurred on Saturday, viewers can catch all the action on Thursday, June 5, on ITV1. Filling in for
Lorraine, host Ranvir Singh was eager to delve into the juicy details of the glamorous evening, which Jane had the pleasure of hosting - her "dream job". Jane did let slip some
behind-the-scenes tidbits, including a playful admission about "flirting" with Coronation Street's villain Kit Green, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, reports Devon Live. The
conversation then turned sombre as the beloved television personality and songstress pondered on the theme of ageing. During a discussion about her hit series, Cruising With Jane McDonald,
she shared with Ranvir her reasons for persisting in her career path. At 62, Jane contemplated her journey into her sixties, noting how she and her contemporaries take greater care of
themselves compared to previous generations, telling Ranvir: "We do look after ourselves just a little bit more." Discussing her career and the importance of seizing opportunities,
she said: "We have got that, 'let's do it now while we can' and that is my advice to anybody, of my sort of age." Jane wrapped up her thoughts with a succinct
message: "Do it now," and emphasised: "Because nothing is promised." In another part of their conversation, they touched upon the dazzling awards night which saw
EastEnders take home the top accolade, Best British Soap. Praising the talent across the board, Jane remarked: "I think the writers and the actors, and all the soaps really excelled
this year. I mean, the 40th live, time jumps with Hollyoaks, limo crashes with Emmerdale. I mean, there was just so many fantastic stories." She added: "The thing about soap, they
do it well, they research it, they work extremely hard. I love the Soap Awards because it celebrates the writers as well. Everybody is there to celebrate their craft and for me to be
presenter of it, it's my dream job." THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS WILL AIR ON THURSDAY, JUNE 5, FROM 8PM.
