Miriam Margolyes, famed for her portrayal of Professor Sprout in Harry Potter, has poignantly shared her concerns about her remaining years. Speaking with The Times at 84, the actress spoke

candidly about her health woes. She revealed: "When you know that you haven't got long to live – and I'm probably going to die within the next five or six years, if not

before, I'm loath to leave behind performing. It's such a joy. I yearn to play roles that don't confine me to wheelchairs, but I'm just not strong enough." Having

grappled with health issues such as spinal stenosis, arthritis, and rheumatism, the Oxford-born star underwent a less traumatic medical intervention last year, replacing an aortic valve

without full-blown open-heart surgery. Displaying her characteristic humour on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast, she quipped: "I've got a cow's heart

now," clarifying, "Well, not the whole heart. I've had an aortic valve replaced by a cow's aortic valve. I don't know how common it is. I'd never heard of that

operation. But it saves you from having open heart surgery, which would be infinitely more invasive." Despite the successful procedure, Miriam acknowledged she continues to face

physical challenges and pain. She has been open about her disability, requiring aids such as sticks, a walker, and a mobility scooter to assist her daily movements, reports the Mirror.

Miriam opened up about her health struggles and being registered disabled in a heartfelt conversation with Closer magazine, revealing her difficulties with mobility: "I can't walk

very well, and I'm registered disabled. I use all kinds of assistance. I've got two sticks and a walker and they're such a bore, but I've just got a mobility scooter,

which is a lot of fun." The respected actress has always been transparent about her health predicaments, suggesting that her days performing at the Edinburgh Fringe could be numbered

due to the pain and mobility issues she faces. During a revealing discussion with Metro, she shared insights into her daily challenges: "I'm often in pain... bodily conditions make

life difficult, so it's unlikely I will do it again. But I love connecting with an audience, and I love sharing my knowledge and love of Dickens." Margolyes hasn't kept quiet

about her future care needs either, expressing her worries to Radio Times regarding the cost of proper carers. Expanding on her views during an appearance on Loose Women, she candidly

stated: "One day I will need carers. I want to be comfortable and I want them to be properly paid for. It is really because I want to make money though and they pay me to do it."
