McMahon said the event was planned to go ahead only 23 days before.

View +13 Photos "Literally 23 days - the reason I got involved was because the local carols were cancelled three weeks out from the event," she said.

"I wanted to try and bring an event to our city - we deserve one and it's a bit of a tradition."

Ms McMahon said she took to Facebook and rallied support, then the council came on board.

"Events like that don't come together in 23 days without amazing people coming on board," she said.

"We are very lucky in this community, we always seem to have people who are willing to put their hand up to make things happen."

Ms McMahon said the event was "absoulely amazing" and bringing the community together was important to her.

"It was amazing, absolutely amazing - the atmosphere was fantastic the performers were amazing," she said.

"[My favourite part] was the sense of community, bringing people together - it's the spirit of Christmas."
