year’s Bike Week is Freedom, Recreation, the Environment, Sociability and Health.

TBUG president Malcolm Reid said the group’s extended presence in Launceston’s CBD was a unique way of helping people make a FRESH start.

“We’ve been talking to City of Launceston Council and St Luke’s Health about ways to raise the profile of cycling in the community,” he said.

“They helped us to fund the pop-up shop, so we can get more people on bikes.”

The temporary store features a range of giveaways, cycling equipment, St Luke’s health bags, and information on the events happening throughout the week.

TBUG committee member Alison Hugo said there was “something for everyone.”

“The items we have here shows there is a vibrant cycling community within Launceston,” she said.

State Bike Week will include a bike themed film night showing The Flying Scotsman on Tuesday, March 6 at the Gunners Arms, and a bike maintenance workshop on Wednesday, March 7 at Cycology

bike shop.

The pop-up shop is open from 10am-2pm in Centreway Arcade for the next fortnight.
