with Voices and Sound Bar to give him 12 winners at the past seven meetings which have all been on his home track.

Voices was having only her second start when she scored quite easily in maiden company and Trinder is hoping the daughter of Needs Further has stakes-race potential.

“We’ll put her away for a few weeks now and bring her back in the summer,” the trainer said.

“Then we’ll see if we can get her out to 2100m and hopefully strike some black type.

“I’d like to see her put on some weight before she starts a taxing preparation because at the moment she’s still a bit hollow.

“She’s also pretty green and wayward.”

Voices was bought from Armidale Stud by Damon Gabbedy, a principal of Melbourne-based Belmont Bloodstock.

Armidale retained a share and some of the other part-owners are from the Magic Millions company.

Sunday’s meeting had to be moved from Elwick after a Friday morning inspection found the track to be unsafe for racing.

Elwick is due to host another meeting in a fortnight when Spreyton is unlikely to be available as an alternative due to track maintenance and re-waxing.

Club officials said representatives of Tapeta Footings would be travelling from America to supervise the work immediately after this Sunday’s meeting.
