Each of the 8 Areas is working towards running representative Masters teams across a range of ages. The Area Masters tournaments are held each year in the early summer where teams from
across the 8 Areas come to a central venue for a weekend of competitive hockey (and some good socialising!). There are teams across a variety of age groups in 5 year age bands from over 35
upwards. For more information on Area Masters activity please see this page. Represent your Area in the Area Masters tournaments. These are for all age groups and are held in May/June/July
every year at various venues across the country. With the change from 5 Regions to 8 Areas last year, many more players are getting involved with this level of hockey and loving it. Areas
have open trials and welcome everyone. Check the Masters section of your Area website for details of age group contacts and trials as they are published. Hockey is ever popular with older
players and more and more clubs are offering specific Masters opportunities. A great option to continue playing in a club environment if open age hockey is no longer suitable or a great
format to return to after time away. We recommend using our find a club search here and discussing with local clubs what they have available. Some Counties run Masters teams and play in Area
tournaments, this has been popular in the East and West regions for some times and the new Areas are starting to explore whether other Counties want to compete in this way. In the existing
Areas the counties have age group teams for over 40 and over 50. Not all counties will be able to field teams in all age ranges and so we would encourage all players interested to look at
getting involved also in their Area Masters. Please see below for more information. The England Hockey Championships have been designed to be more inclusive than ever allowing more teams to
participate in a national championship, with more evenly contested games. The beauty of hockey is that anyone can play and the Masters Championships provide a great platform for players to
come together in their age groups and renew old friendships and rivalries. Keep fit and active and, maybe more importantly your 'hockey-eye' in over the warmer, lighter months,
while the traditional season takes a break from competitive league hockey. A mixture of small sided and full pitch 11-a-side hockey is on offer to Masters at the Summer Championships.
International Masters hockey is run by World Masters Hockey England Hockey run squads at several age groups. The women field teams from Over 35 to Over 65 and the men from Over 35 to Over
80. England squads compete in all major competitions including the Home Nations, European Cup and World Cup tournaments. If you wish to find out more about specific age groups you can
contact the relevant 'Squad Lead' here.
