England and Great Britain Hockey men’s Head Coach Paul Revington has decided to step down from his role after a successful tenure which saw him take the squad to second in the world rankings
and the England team to a silver at the European Championships. Revington orchestrated a transformative period for the men’s England and GB teams with some outstanding performances on the
international stage. Starting with an impressive showing at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 where England secured bronze to back up their performance from the 2018 Games. The
team has continued to achieve remarkable success including a silver medal at the EuroHockey Championships 2023 and the GB team had podium finishes with a 2nd and 3rd place finish in the FIH
Hockey Pro League in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Under Revington’s leadership the team also reached the historic milestone of securing second place in the FIH world rankings for the first
time in over a decade. Revington has expressed that now feels like the right time for both him and the squad for this transition. "After much reflection, I have made the decision to
step down as Head Coach. It has been a privilege to work with such an exceptional squad of players and staff team over the past two and a half years, and I am incredibly proud of what we’ve
achieved together. “I am grateful for the unwavering commitment and effort from the players, the relentless delivery from a world-leading coaching team in Zak (Jones), Kwan (Browne), and
Craig (Sieben), the laughter and friendships developed in our Locker Room at Bisham and on tour, and to everyone involved with England and GB Hockey, which has made this journey so
rewarding. While this is the right time for me to step aside, I have full confidence in the squad’s future, and I wish them all the very best as they continue this exciting journey
together.” Commenting on the decision, Nick Pink, England Hockey CEO said: “We are immensely grateful to Paul for his outstanding leadership over the past two and a half years, and it’s
with a heavy heart that we see him step down. “During his time with us, the team has reached remarkable new heights, from securing a silver medal in Germany to multiple podium finishes in
the FIH Hockey Pro League. Paul has fostered an incredibly positive and dynamic environment, where our players have truly thrived, and he has introduced an exciting style of play that has
put England and Great Britain firmly on the global stage. “We wish Paul nothing but success in his next chapter, and his contributions will always be remembered as a pivotal part of our
journey.” Revington will step down with immediate effect, and Zak Jones has been appointed Interim Head Coach while a recruitment process is finalised, and the organisation determines the
next steps for the England and GB men’s team.
