The minimum age for someone to play adult league hockey is 13. This is an agreed standard in line with both welfare considerations and associated physical and mental maturity levels, and
also agreed longer term athletic development reasons. Whilst there may be cases in which people feel a player under the age of 13 meets the maturity requirements, it is not possible to
govern this on a case-by-case basis, and hence the national standard must be maintained at 13. However, there are opportunities for players aged under 13 to play in matches with adults in
specific development formats designed for exactly these purposes such as Badgers and Vixens, or friendly leagues - but consideration of over playing juniors at this age, when their bodies do
experience extra stresses and strains must also be paramount.
