In a surprising move, the BCCI has decided to terminate its contract with Nimbus for what one of its official calls a serial offence. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has

decided to bite the bullet, and said “enough is enough”. In a surprising move, the BCCI has decided to terminate its contract with Nimbus for what one of its official calls a serial offence.

The trigger was Nimbus’ request to the BCCI to permit them to pay a large chunk of the money late. _DNA _on December 7 had published a report that the two parties were locked in a payment

dispute. "Enough is enough. There is history of default from the broadcasters. We could not go on like this," said a BCCI official. The decision was taken at the board’s working

committee meeting in Delhi on Monday. "They have defaulted, they have not made the 50% advance payment for both the England and the West Indies series. The BCCI had no choice but to

terminate the deal," said Rajiv Shukla, chairman of the Indian Premier League. There was no immediate information from the BCCI, but sources said the BCCI will encash the Rs2,000 crore

bank guarantee submitted by the broadcasters. Nimbus has been associated with the BCCI for six years, having renewed the contract in 2009 after agreeing to pay Rs31.5 crore per international

match.  Nimbus officials, meanwhile, refused to discuss the matter. "We have no official word from the BCCI regarding rumours in a section of the media. We will not be issuing any

statement today," said Harish Thawani, Nimbus MD.
