Pcmc approves free bus pass facility to students

Sports scholarship for differently-abled students also okayed. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) standing committee has approved free PMPML bus pass facility for students of

standard I to X in both private as well as municipal schools. Providing information about the standing committee’s decision, standing committee chairman Jagdish Shetty said the process of

issuing the passes will begin in a few days. Officials from the civic body’s education board added that there was no limit on the number of passes. The information will be circulated to

schools and forms will also be collected from school authorities. The students are required to submit their two passport size photographs, as well as a photocopy of the ration card and

identity card or a letter of the school principal to avail of the facility. The committee has also approved a proposal to provide sports scholarship for physically and mentally challenged

students. It had approved Rs18.90 lakh for the same. A total of 393 applications have been received for the sports scholarship and 358 of them have been accepted. Nagrik Hakka Suraksha

Samiti President Manav Kamble requested the civic authority to extend the scholarship to physically and mentally challenged students. Accordingly, Rs4,000 will be provided to students of

standard I to IX per year, Rs5,000 for students from SSC to HSC. Six thousand rupees will be provided to pre-degree students and Rs8,000 scholarship for postgraduate students.
