Maharashtra ATS and Pune police teams, which are investigating the case, have found a witness who claims he had spotted one of the red coloured brand new MTBs parked at the bomb site around

2.30pm on Wednesday. The witness informed the police that he spotted the bike parked diagonally opposite the McDonald’s outlet. The police have recorded his statement. A senior police

officer said, “While we were carrying out a pachanama of the spot, a witness told us that he had seen the red bicycle parked near the tree diagonally opposite the McDonald’s outlet around

2.30pm on Wednesday. He said he was walking down towards Sambhaji Park when he spotted the bike but did not pay much attention towards it then. He said he then thought that it might be the

bike of a student studying with one of the coaching classes or educational institutes in the area.” The officer said, “The witness told us that cycles are often parked at the spot. He said

he recalled having seen the bike in the afternoon only when our Bomb Detection Disposal Squad (BDDS) started defusing the bomb planted in the bike’s carriage around 10 pm on Wednesday.”
