Senior police inspector Arun Borude, who is suspected to be involved in the rape case of a 15-year-old girl, has reportedly got admitted to a hospital. Senior police inspector Arun Borude,

who is suspected to be involved in the rape case of a 15-year-old girl, has reportedly got admitted to a hospital.   Though his lawyer Vaibhav Bagade has refused to reveal the location or

the name of the hospital, he confirmed that Borude was in the city itself.        Officers investigating the case said that Borude has not yet been named in the case. However, they have got

the officer’s number in the phone records of Shantabai Gaikwad, the woman who was arrested on charges of child trafficking. Gaikwad allegedly sent the victim to Borude, who is attached to

the LT Marg police station.   “We will decide our plan of action next week — whether to move court seeking anticipatory bail or not. As of now, Borude has not been booked in the case,” said

Bagade.   Sighting health ailment as the reason for his absence the police officer can evade arrest and get time to prepare for an anticipatory bail. Also, if at all he is arrested, he would

be kept in a government hospital under police detention. A senior police officer said: “Though he has not been booked, once we collect all the possible evidence against him, we will arrest

him immediately. There are a few other people involved in the case and we have launched a search for them. Once they are arrested, their statements will help us build a strong case against

all the accused involved.”  Borude’s family has also moved out of their residence to an undisclosed location in the city.    Gaikwad, a neighbour of the victim, allegedly lured her by

promising her a job. The girl was allegedly raped several times over a period of time. She gave birth to a premature baby on October 17. According to sources, police on Friday have video

recorded the statements of the victim and her mother at the hospital. A few suspects were also brought to the hospital for identification. The Powai police, meanwhile, have questioned a

woman named Saloni Reddy alias Nartha, whose name was found in the phone records of Gaikwad. “Nartha was suspected to be involved in sending the victim to other clients. Since nothing could

be substantiated, she was allowed to go after questioning,” said senior police inspector Ashok Jadhav of Powai police station.
