British Council is organising 'English Road Shows', a series of one-day professional development workshops. Around 300 teachers of English along with their trainers will receive
training from British Council, which is organising 'English Road Shows', a series of one-day professional development workshops in partnership with English Language Teacher's
Association of India (ELTAI). "In Ahmedabad, the road show will take place on September 24 at Ahmedabad International School (AIS). This show will comprise five topics and 10 sessions
and each class will have 30 participants. We have already received 100 registrations for this workshop," Mithun Khandwala, vice-president of ELTAI Ahmedabad, said. The workshops are
being conducted across 12 cities of India and started from Nagpur this month. Some of the topics include improving pronunciation, exploring effective classroom management techniques through
the teaching knowledge test, learning and the learners, teaching children English and more. According to Padmaja Shivkumar, manager, communities and communications, British Council,
"English language is what we have always stressed upon. Through these workshops we are letting English language teachers and teachers' trainers know about various words that could
be stressed upon in a single sentence. How English could be taught effectively to students is the focus of our workshops. Through them we are reaching out to teachers of tier-II and tier-III
cities who are unable to have access to such programmes."
