TO SHARE THIS PAGE. Found-footage horror specialist Blumhouse has acquired _Peachfuzz_ from producers Mark and Jay Duplass and directed by first-timer Patrick Brice. The plot is mostly under

wraps but follows a man who answers a Craigslist ad with unexpected results; Mark Duplass co-wrote the script and also stars. The deal closed yesterday at Sundance ahead of the film

festival that starts today. The pic was not ready in time for the fest lineup, so the filmmakers offered up a poster and some scenes for buyers. Blumhouse jumped on it, and now it can be

finished, with the Universal-based production company set to partner and collaborate with the brothers on the film and its distribution and marketing. The deal was negotiated by Submarine’s

Josh Braun, who will serve as an executive producer. Blumhouse has a full slate of genre releases in the works including the Scott Stewart-directed _Dark Skies_ for Alliance/Dimension that

opens February 22_; The Purge_ for Universal with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, set for release May 31; and _Paranormal Activity 5, _which just got an October 2013 release date from

Paramount. The Duplass brothers dabbled in indie horror previously with 2008’s _Baghead_. Their _Jeff Who Lives At Home_ and _The Do-Deca-Pentathlon_ came out last year, and they produced

the Sundance 2012 titles _Safety Not Guaranteed_ and _Black Rock_. Mark Duplass most recently appeared in Kathryn Bigelow’s _Zero Dark Thirty_. The brothers are repped by ICM and are

currently co-writing a remake of the romantic comedy _Same Time, Next Year_. WATCH ON DEADLINE 3 Comments JavaScript is required to load the comments. MARKETPLACE SITE ad
