09:30, 31 May 2025Updated 11:26, 01 Jun 2025 Helen Flanagan has confessed she "hated" being up for Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards. The 34-year-old star became a

household name in 2000 as Coronation Street's Rosie Webster. Despite her prominent storylines in Weatherfield, she often found herself in the spotlight for her looks rather than her

performances. She was frequently nominated for the Sexiest Female gong at the glamorous awards ceremony, but in 2015, organisers scrapped the award along with Sexiest Male. The move was to

introduce a category that celebrated storyline-based achievements addressing more significant issues, and Helen believes it was the correct decision, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Article continues below Chatting at the WhichBingo Awards, Helen remarked: "It's about acting really isn't it and not about your appearance. "It's probably a really

dated thing really which needed to go and also it's not a beauty pageant. "You are on the show for your acting talent and women are all beautiful in our own way. "I always

used to go nominated for it and to be honest with you and I always used to hate it. "I do feel maybe growing up in the public eye made me more aware of my appearance in maybe not the

best way and people can be quite mean." The Sexiest Male and Sexiest Female categories were among those voted for by the public each year, alongside Best Actor, Best Actress, Villain of

the Year, and the prestigious Best British Soap award. The 2025 British Soap Awards are back on the telly tonight (Saturday, May 31), with some of the biggest names in serial drama set to

grace the glitzy event where four legendary soaps battle it out. After a break last year, the awards ceremony is back on track this year, with Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and

Hollyoaks all jostling for accolades after another year packed with gripping plotlines. Article continues below The nominations have been evenly distributed among the four enduring shows,
