MAX VERSTAPPEN GAVE A SPIKY INTERVIEW FOLLOWING THE SPANISH GRAND PRIX AS HE WAS ASKED ABOUT HIS CRASH WITH GEORGE RUSSELL AFTER HE APPEARED TO INTENTIONALLY DRIVE INTO THE BRIT 16:58, 01

Jun 2025 Max Verstappen gave a spiky interview after the Spanish Grand Prix as he was asked about his crash with George Russell. The Dutchman finished P10 in Spain after he received a

10-second penalty for driving into Russell in the final laps of the race. The chaotic moment came after Verstappen was told to give the place to Russell after he drove off-track as the two

went wheel to wheel. Verstappen was furious with the message from his team but appeared to allow Russell to pass, only to drive straight into the Mercedes as Russell attempted to pass around

the outside. There were even calls from Nico Rosberg to disqualify Verstappen for the incident. Following the conclusion of the race, Verstappen stormed back to the Red Bull garage before

he took to the media zone to reluctantly conduct the post-race interviews. Still raging, Verstappen was in no mood to discuss the incident, snapping back: "Does it matter? I prefer to

speak about the race than just one single moment. Article continues below "If there are any [drivers' title hopes], we are way too slow any way to fight for the title, I think that

was clear again today. We tried to do a three-stop, I thought it was quite good and it was quite racy, and we also needed it because we had quite a bit of degradation on the tyres. "I

think that was good but unfortunately the safety car came out at the end and we basically ran out of tyres and the hard tyre was clearly not the right tyre. When you only have six laps to go

everyone can go flat out and I was severely grip limited on the hard." Verstappen was also asked about whether the incident has marred his reputation as a driver again after being

involved in similar controversial moments during the years and whether the incident sets a good example for those watching. DON'T MISS A THING WITH SPORT UPDATES! Want to keep up with

Verstappen again shot back as the interview concluded. Article continues below Meanwhile, Russell opted to remain diplomatic in the circumstances as he tip toed around questions of piling

the blame on Verstappen. However, he couldn’t avoid a cheeky dig at his rival. "I mean I was as surprised as you guys were. I've seen the manoeuvres before on simulator games and

go karting but never in F1," he said. "Ultimately we came home in P4 and he came home in P10. I don't know what was going through his mind. It felt deliberate in the moment so

yeah it was a bit surprising.”
