A Channel 4 couple have been detained in Iran while on a once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world. Craig and Lindsay Foreman have been journeying across the globe on a motorbike adventure

but were snatched by Iran's hardline security services last month.

Their worried family have now launched an urgent appeal for the daredevil duo to be brought back safely to Blighty. The pair, hailing from East Sussex and having upped sticks to sunny Spain

in 2019 as seen on the Channel 4 hit 'A New Life in the Sun', were fully aware that trotting into Iran against Foreign Office guidance was "slightly scary".

Nevertheless, thrill-seekers Craig and Lindsay set out to wheel all the way to Oz, plotting to weave through a slew of countries en route and slipped into Iran from Armenia on December 30,

hoping to go into Pakistan by January 4. The UK Foreign Office has slapped a "do not travel" label on Iran, clanging the alarm bells about a "significant risk" of being nabbed or stuck in a

questioning room.

Meanwhile, Iranian state TV threw out fuzzy snaps of Craig and Lindsay getting friendly with UK ambassador Hugo Shorter, exploiting the meeting in heavily-monitored media circles to claim

the two were bagged for hush-hush "security" misdeeds.

The family of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, who are currently detained in Kerman, Iran, released a heartfelt statement through the ministry: "We would like to take this opportunity to address

the distressing situation concerning Craig and Lindsay Foreman who are currently being detained in Kerman, Iran. This unexpected turn of events has caused significant concern for our entire

family, and we are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this trying time.", reports the Mirror.

"We are actively engaging with the British government and relevant authorities, working diligently to navigate the complexities of this matter. The family are united in our determination to

secure their safe return. We truly appreciate the outpouring of support from friends, family, and the community, which has provided us with strength and encouragement as we face this ordeal.

"In light of the circumstances, we kindly ask for the utmost respect regarding our family's privacy. The emotional burden of this situation weighs heavily on us, and we request that all

media inquiries be directed to the FCDO as we manage this challenging chapter in our lives."

Before they were detained, Lindsay Foreman shared the couple's adventurous spirit on Instagram with her followers. She wrote: "Yes, we're aware of the risks. But we also know the rewards of

meeting incredible people, hearing their stories, and seeing the breathtaking landscapes of these regions could far outweigh the fear. From the vast deserts of Iran to the towering peaks of

Pakistan, we hope to share the beauty, hospitality, and humanity that often go unnoticed."

The pair had taken in the sights of Tabriz, Tehran and Isfahan, accompanied by a guide, but never showed up at their next hotel stop in Kerman.

On social media, both Craig and Lindsay had been vocal about their positive experiences, with Lindsay saying she was having "an amazing time" and Craig noting the "lovely people" in this

"lovely" country. A particularly poignant post highlighted Lindsay on January 3, standing with a religious figure in Isfahan as they mused: "Travel continues to teach me that humanity's core

is shared: kindness, humility, and respect for one another."

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lindsay gushed: "Despite differences in culture, language, and traditions, we've seen something beautifully universal: kindness, humour, hospitality - and a

shared love of good food! " Reportedly on a quest to uncover the secrets to a well-lived life, she plans to spill the beans at a Brisbane event come July.
