A TEENAGER HAS BEEN MISSING SINCE NOVEMBER 2022 AFTER EMBARKING ON THE HAʻIKŪ STAIRS IN O'AHU, HAWAII. ONE OF THE LAST PHOTOS HE SHARED SHOWED A MYSTERIOUS 'SHADOW MAN'
14:56, 01 Jun 2025Updated 10:18, 03 Jun 2025 A teenager who disappeared while hiking in Hawaii took a haunting photo featuring a 'shadow man' just before he vanished. Daylenn Pua,
18, was last seen setting off on the treacherous Haʻikū Stairs – also known as the 'stairway to heaven' – on O'ahu island. The Haʻikū Stairs, built during World War Two to
provide better access to a former US Navy Communications facility, were once a favourite spot for hikers before they were dismantled in 2024. Despite its daunting 3,922 steps and notorious
safety issues, making it technically illegal to climb, many thrill-seekers, including young Daylenn, couldn't resist the dangerous trek. Despite the sheer drops on either side of the
ridge, which meant any false step could be fatal, Daylenn was keen to take on the challenge. He tried to ease his anxious grandmother's worries by promising to send her regular photos
of his journey. One of the last images sent chillingly features a man partially hidden behind a tree, standing in the middle of the frame and side-on to the teenager. This enigmatic figure,
referred to as the 'shadow man,' has never been identified and is believed to be the last person to see Daylenn before he disappeared. The eerie photograph has sparked theories
online, fuelling speculation about whether Daylenn was kidnapped or attacked, according to the Irish Star, reports the Mirror. Article continues below His family later made a public plea for
the individual in the photo to come forward, but no one did. With no other explanations or evidence to hand, and after a fruitless search and rescue mission, the consensus is that the young
lad met with tragedy by tumbling down the stairs. This notion is backed up by fellow trekkers in the vicinity who claimed they heard desperate shouts for help. A Reddit user going by
'Dclandry' recounted their chilling experience online, writing: "I could never explain to you the feeling I felt when you hear a cry like that. The hiker did not trust pass
and go up the stairs. By the looks of the photographs, he didn't ever make it to the stairs. "The hiker went up the Moanalua way. I'm not a local so I don't really know
any of the name of the ridges, all I can do is try my best to explain to others where we went and where it was that we heard him. We started the hike on a trail about 20 feet from the
Kulana'ahane trail. We had hiked about three hours up." The post continued with the harrowing details: "We were yelling to each other to make sure the others were okay because
we were so far apart. The wind died down for just a half a second and we hear a scream 'help me!". Spooked by what they heard, the group swiftly got in touch with the emergency
services. When the rescue team arrived, they too reportedly heard cries for help. "I'm down here!" was allegedly picked up by the responders, yet locating where the voice was
coming from was a challenge. "The wind was so bad and the clouds are starting to roll in so it was hard to hear anything," one rescuer described. They further stated: "My
friend and I that heard the last cry, are heading up the ridge tomorrow the same way that we went Monday. It's hard to explain where the location was that we heard it, as well as where
the voice was coming from." Article continues below _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER BY CLICKING_ _HERE_
